In December 2023, a container coffee shop was opened in Hokkaido, Japan - consisting of one container.
In Hokkaido, Japan, amidst a snowy winter landscape, stands a cafe reborn from a 40-foot shipping container. With the rugged silhouette of industrial style, it embraces the warmth of coffee aroma and the simplicity of Japanese aesthetics, creating a unique haven within the pure white snow-covered scenery.

Outdoor:
Pure white snow blankets the wooden deck platform, where a beige container and a raw-wood pergola blend together beautifully. The coldness of metal is tempered by the warmth of timber and the whiteness of snow. With Hokkaido's blue sky as a backdrop and snow as a carpet, the container's industrial texture stands out vividly against the snowy scene, while the addition of wooden structures makes it feel more approachable. The stepped terrace and iron railings preserve the container's original hardcore DNA while creating multi-layered outdoor spaces for snow viewing and coffee breaks. When snow falls, it becomes a warm refuge in a silver-white world; when the sky is clear, the blue sky, white snow, and the container's geometric lines collide to produce a striking visual spectacle.
Indoor:
Open the door, and the warmth of the wooden flooring instantly dispels the harsh cold outside. Simple round wooden tables with black-and-white chairs, or white high tables with matching bar stools, are arranged to create cozy corners for socializing or solitude within the long, narrow space. On one side, the coffee equipment area features a grinder, hand-drip stand, and shelves lined with coffee beans, all neatly arranged, while a dark gray tiled accent wall adds a calm texture to the space. Wall shelves and potted plants bring a touch of liveliness, and soft light filtering through the blinds dances over the coffee cups, creating a "small and beautiful" healing atmosphere - beneath the shell of an industrial container lies a warm little world where you can rest your weary soul and slowly savor your coffee.

This container cafe is an unexpected discovery in Hokkaido's snowy season. The most "hardcore" vessel carries the gentlest emotions of daily life, where industrial style and snowy landscapes, coffee fragrance and the scent of wood coexist. It becomes an intriguing coffee story of "cold and warmth," "hardness and softness" that travelers encounter in Hokkaido.
